The Canon PowerShot V1 Compact Camera...
was introduced on March 26th, 2025, and its characteristics are as follows:
It features a 1.4-type sensor with 22 MP, more compact but still capable of delivering good quality.
It has a fixed 16-50 mm lens with optical and digital stabilization.
It also offers cropped records in 4K60P, and for more advanced users, it includes Canon Log 3, allowing for video recording with a wide dynamic range and 10-bit color depth, starting from a base ISO sensitivity of 800.
It comes with a high-resolution 3-inch articulated screen.
It includes built-in microphones with noise reduction and a port for an external microphone.
It even features a built-in fan.
Who is this camera for?
Definitely for content creators. With its wide-angle lens, it's ideal for vlogging, and its weight of 426 g makes it perfect for holding with one hand without struggling. Additionally, it includes features like Bluetooth and Full HD live streaming, making it easy to share content directly from the camera.

What other camera does it compete with?
Based on its features, I consider the Sony ZV-1 Mark II to be its closest competitor. This camera was launched in 2023, and its price range is between $700–$900 USD, compared to the $900 USD of the recently launched Canon PowerShot V1.
Do I recommend this camera for people starting out in photography?
No, this type of camera has a very specific niche, so for learning, I would recommend other cameras that we will cover in future articles. However, if you're looking for one that doesn't require purchasing multiple lenses, I would suggest at least one that allows good zoom capabilities to practice various techniques and photography styles.
